At Execus, we have adjusted our service offer to meet the “Everything Elastic” trend in demand and providing top talent on an On-Demand basis.
In a recent report, named Everything Elastic by Kishore S. Swaminathan, he envisions a successful company that is very efficient on costs and makes resources available on demand. It’s well known that today you have real-time hardware and software escalation solutions, but he takes it to the next level, to internal resources and talent … and even to core competencies such as R&D.
Mr. Swaminathan calls it a New frontier: “For example, how can a company reduce the wear and tear on employees caused by travel and time zone differences and the time wasted in daily commutes? [...] Or avoid the enormous stress on management and workers caused by large-scale hiring and layoffs in times of business volatility? How does a company effectively deploy an expert across multiple projects and augment R&D with experts from the outside?”
If you think about it, it is a very stong point. Innovation in the way companies manage their talent will be a path to follow for world-class companies.
Companies like Execus are already adjusting their service offering to meet this trend in demand and providing top talent on an On-Demand basis. These professionals are accomplished individuals that have chosen project based work as a carreer and are ready to jump on a highly qualified work on a temporary basis.
From the working professionals side, elasticity in their workplace environment will directly affect them. They will have to adapt and learn to adapt to the companies needs for resources. The consequeneses are many. One of them, as Mrs. Tammy Erickson at Harvad Business Review comments, there will be some lessons to learn and some of them are already starting to surface through these difficult times “(1) you don’t have a job for life, to (2) you may never find full-time work with one employer, to now (3) even a full-time job is really only a contractor job in disguise”
